What is QuiltCon?

QuiltCon is the international conference and show by and for The Modern Quilt Guild. The biggest modern quilting event of its kind, QuiltCon features top modern quilting instructors and will attract attendees from around the world. It includes a juried modern quilt show with cash prizes, vendors, lectures, workshops from top modern quilters, and more.

Who Should Attend QuiltCon?

You! It doesn’t matter what kind of quilter you are or if you are even a quilter at all. QuiltCon is open to anyone who is interested in modern quilting!

The Savannah International Trade and Convention Center meets ADA compliance.

Are scooters or wheelchairs available for rent at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center?

Scooters and/or wheelchairs are not available for rent directly at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center. However, you can arrange to rent a scooter or wheelchair, if you should desire one, from Mobility Concepts at 912.233.1050.

 

Cancellation and Refund Policy

What is the cancellation, refund and transfer policy?

Refunds will be processed based on your date of cancellation.

If you cancel between:

June 25 – July 31: 5% cancellation fee
August 1 – August 31: 20% cancellation fee
September 1 – September 30: 30% cancellation fee
October 1 – December 31: 50% cancellation fee
January 1, 2017 and beyond: No refunds are available.

The cancelation fees above apply to canceling all or part of your registration.

You can transfer part or all of your registration for a $50 fee per transfer recipient. QuiltCon will not refund the money you paid for the workshop; however, you may work out payment arrangements directly with the person to whom you’re transferring your registration to. Please note that no transfers can be performed after January 15, 2017.

What if I’m not satisfied with a workshop?

If you are not satisfied with a workshop, please visit the registration desk after the session is completed to fill out a formal complaint form. This form must be filled out within 24 hours of the session to be considered. If we receive five or more formal complaint forms for one workshop, we will issue refunds to the people who complained no later than March 30, 2016.

What time should I arrive onsite to check in?

We recommend arriving at least one-hour before your first scheduled lecture or workshop. The registration desk hours are:

You will need your confirmation barcode. Check-in can be scanned on your smart phone or printed paper.

How much does QuiltCon Cost?

No matter your budget, you can come to QuiltCon! Pick and chose the right passes for you.

Do I have to pay show admission if I registered for a workshop?

Yes, you have to purchase a day show pass in addition to the workshop pass. Show admission is included separately.

Do I have to pay show admission if I purchased a lecture?

Yes, show admission is NOT included in your lecture purchase.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer group discounts for quilt show passes and discounts on registration for members. Members must be current as of June 19 for June 25 early registration.

Can you tell me more about the quilt show group discounts?

QuiltCon is offering discounted event tickets for groups organizing bus trips to the event. Show Passes will be available to these groups at $8.50 per person for a one-day pass. We’ll also offer one free pass for the organizer of the trip. Please complete our Group Sales form purchase tickets for your group and receive information on bus parking.

Can you tell me more about discounts for Modern Quilt Guild members?

Members get 15% off non-member prices when they register via the link posted on the MQG Community site. Unfortunately, we won’t offer discounts onsite, so register early!

Early registration is a benefit for paid members, and took place between June 25 and July 7. Non-member registration opens July 8.

Do you have a scholarship program?

No, but we do have a volunteer program that offers a number of complimentary benefits. Super Volunteers will get a free four-day Show Pass, a goodie bag and a t-shirt if they volunteer 16 hours or more at QuiltCon. Our regular volunteers will get a free four-day Show Pass. Families & Children

Does QuiltCon welcome families and children?

* Supervised children of all ages are welcome on the show floor.
* Children over the age of 10 are permitted in the lecture hall with a purchased pass.
* Babes-in-arms are welcome in the lecture hall at no cost.

Can you help me find a roommate for my hotel room?

So sorry, unfortunately, we cannot but MQG members can post on our “Looking For a Roommate” board on community.themodernquiltguild.com. The MQG is not responsible or liable for roommate agreements.

When will my credit card be charged for my room in Savannah?

If you book your hotel room through the QuiltCon website, or by calling the phone number we’ve listed for the housing authority in Savannah, your credit card will be charged approximately 30-60 days in advance of your arrival in Savannah.

Member verses Non-Member Registration

How do Modern Quilt Guild members get registration discounts?

MQG Members will be able to access Member Pre-Registration through the MQG Community website as well as through an email that will be sent to them on June 25, 2016. Members will need to register with the email address that receives their MQG newsletters. Members will not need to use any special discount codes; discounts will be applied automatically.

MQG member pricing will end November 30, 2016. All MQG member registration thereafter will be at full price.

You must be a member BEFORE you register. We will not provide pro-active discounts to people who become members after they register.

How do Modern Quilt Guild members get early registration?

We will email the password to members. If any non-member is caught using the password before July 1, we will unregister them and refund them their registration. You must be a member BEFORE you register. The cut off date for new memberships to be eligible for early registrations is June 17. We will NOT provide pro-active discounts to people who become members after they register.

What if a non-members uses discount codes or registers early?

The entry form will be available in July 1, 2016 via the MQG e-newsletter and the QuiltCon website. If you are not a member, join today!

When are entries open?

Entries will be accepted from July 1 to November 30, 2016.

Registration

How do I register?

Modern Quilt Guild members will get an email with a registration link and password in June of 2016. The link and password will also be posted on community.themodernquiltguild.com. We’ll post training videos of how to register about a week before member registration opens.

Public registration will be July 1, 2016.

When should I register?

We recommend registering as soon as registration opens, as much of QuiltCon sells out quickly.

What form of payment will you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover

Do I have to register online?

Yes, we will not offer paper-based registration. We like trees!

What confirmation will I receive?

You will receive a confirmation email when you register. If you registered for workshops, supply lists will be sent 30 days before the start of QuiltCon, although likely sooner.

Can I register for lectures a la carte?

Yes! Lectures are sold individually.

Can I buy a day pass for lectures?

Yes. A Four Day Lecture Hall Pass is $199 for non-members and $169.15 for members. We also sell lectures a la carte.

Can I register onsite?

If space is still available, workshops, lectures, special event and show passes can be purchased onsite during QuiltCon. Please note, there are no discounts for onsite registration or passes.

Workshops

Where can I find the supply list for my workshop?

Supply lists will be posted on the QuiltCon site. After registration we will also email you your supply list 30 days before of the start of QuiltCon, but most likely sooner.

Do I need to bring a sewing machine?

No. Sewing machines will be provided in all sewing workshops.

In the long-arm workshops, please note that students will share the machines in groups of two.

What will be provided?

QuiltCon workshop rooms will be equipped with sewing machines, irons, ironing boards and cutting mats.

What types of payments do instructors take for their material fees?

All instructors accept cash, but details on other payment information will be sent with emailed supply lists.

What are the levels of the workshops?

Each workshop is marked as all skill levels, beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
All Skill Level workshops are appropriate for all sewists.

– Beginner workshops are geared towards participants with some basic sewing skills. These workshops will provide instruction for more technical skills.
– Intermediate workshops are for sewists and quilters who have solid skills on basic cutting, piecing, quilting and sewing techniques. Participants should require little to no instruction on sewing machine operation.
– Advanced workshops are for experienced quilters with solid skills on a wide variety of quilting techniques, including piecing, appliqué, handwork and more.

What are the types of workshops?

Drawing – Taught by long-arm quilters, these drawing courses will help you practice your free-motion quilting skills
Handwork – These classrooms have no sewing machines and all sewing is done by hand.
Long-arm Quilting (Sit) – These classrooms are outfitted sit down long-arm machines.
Long-arm Quilting (Stand) – These classrooms are outfitted with long-arm machines.
Printing – These classrooms focus on various fabric printing techniques.
Sewing – These classrooms are outfitted with sewing machines.
